Which patient profile is the best fit for Ultracol®?

The key to success in any aesthetic treatment lies in the correct diagnosis. ULTRACOL®, the innovative PDO (liquid polydioxanone)-based neocollagenising treatment, has revolutionised aesthetic practices by delivering exceptional improvement in skin quality without adding volume. By achieving superficial recollagenisation and effective tightening without “puffing up” the face, it has become an indispensable tool.

To maximise its benefits, at IT Pharma we have developed a selection guide based on the different degrees of ageing and dermal needs. These are the ideal profiles for the treatment:

The “preventive” profile (Grade 1)

This profile matches individuals (around 40 years old) who want to slow down early skin laxity and keep the skin “attached” to the face before gravity takes its toll. When the first signs of loss of firmness appear, ULTRACOL® acts by providing an early collagen stimulus. Its main objective at this stage is to achieve a preventive and superficial firming effect, preserving the natural and intact structure of youth.

The “hard-to-treat areas” profile (Grade 2.1)

Aimed at individuals (around 50 years old) who are beginning to worry about fine lines localised in the lower third of the face. This patient is looking to treat complex areas such as crow’s feet, barcode lines, and the perioral area. ULTRACOL®’s major advantage for this profile is that it offers unrivalled safety in mobile and delicate areas, precisely where other inducers (such as PLLA) are not indicated.

The “weakened skin” profile (Grade 2.2)

This candidate is characterised by weakened skin and mild laxity localised especially in the neck and chin area. A key factor for this profile is that there should be no excess fat. In these cases, liquid PDO achieves deep dermal compaction and overall improvement without adding unwanted volume to the facial structure.

The “mature” profile (Grade 3)

Especially indicated for post-menopausal skin showing visible laxity and poor texture. For this profile, which experiences superficial sagging and more generalised wrinkles, the treatment achieves intensive recollagenisation. It also acts as an excellent complementary treatment for mature patients who have previously been treated with deep support procedures (such as hyaluronic acid or thread lifts) and now need a more global improvement in skin texture.

Not recommended candidates for ULTRACOL®

To safeguard excellence in results and patient satisfaction, it is vital to know when to say “no”. ULTRACOL® is not the indicated treatment in the following cases:

  • Patients with facial obesity or severe excess fat
  • Presence of active or inflammatory acne in the areas to be treated
  • Cases of extreme laxity lacking an underlying support structure
  • Patients with unrealistic expectations who are seeking results equivalent to a surgical facelift through minimally invasive procedures

Correctly identifying each patient’s degree of need is the first step towards offering a successful well-ageing approach. With ULTRACOL®, IT Pharma provides professionals with the most advanced technology to firm and redensify the skin, always prioritising natural-looking results and skin health.
